Chhattisgarh recorded heavy poll for the second and last phase of Assembly elections today. Voting took place in 72 constituencies in this phase. Polling remained by and large peaceful. One thousand seventy-nine candidates are in the fray.

Briefing media in New Delhi on Tuesday evening, Deputy Election Commissioner Umesh Sinha said, 71.93 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the state.

The polling began at 8 am and concluded at 5 PM.

Chhattisgarh has 90 assembly segments. The state went to polls in the first phase on the 12th of this month for 18 Maoist-affected constituencies.
