Centre has welcomed the withdrawal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from Tripura saying it will have positive impact on other states of North Eastern region. Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju told media that state government has revoked the AFSPA as insurgency is on the wane and the situation has improved over the past one year.
He said the Centre has also appointed one interlocutor to hold talks with National Liberation Front of Tripura which has ceased its violent activities.
Mr. Rijiju said Bangladesh has made it difficult for northeastern insurgents to operate from its soil.
The Minister also expressed confidence that state governments and Centre can work together in days to come to secure peace in the region
