NEW DELHI: Centre has warned that exemplary punishment will be given to the anti-talks faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland – NDFB. The group has claimed responsibility for the killing of 22 innocent civilians in Assam between 8th and 10th of this month. Strongly condemning the atrocities committed by this faction, Home Minister P. Chidambaram said that security forces have been asked to take stern action against the perpetrators of the crime.

Addressing a Press conference he said Centre has convened a meeting of Development Commissioners of nine Naxal-affected states on Friday on implementation of the integrated action plan announced recently for sixty districts. He said,  the government intends to fast track the implementation of the 1500 crore rupee plan.

The Minister hoped that this will help in stepping up development in these areas through the construction of school buildings, Panchayat Ghars, Anganwaris, bore-wells and other infrastructure. The Home Minister said there has been no let up in the attacks by the CPI Maoists. 62 civilians and eleven security personnel were killed this month alone in 135 incidents.
