Centre has formally transferred the ownership of Indu Mills land to Maharastra government for construction of memorial of Babasaheb Ambedkar.
The documents for 12 acres of land, owned by National Textile Corporation was handed over to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis by Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani and Union Minister of State for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale in Mumbai today.
Mr Fadnavis later told the state assembly that clearances for the memorial has already been obtained and the work on a grand memorial will begin soon. He reiterated government’s commitment to build a grand memorial of Dr Ambedkar to fulfil aspirations of people of Maharashtra.
