Centre will write to all states to prescribe certain minimum educational qualifications for holding the office of Sarpanch. Replying to a media query in New Delhi Monday, Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi said, all state governments must implement what Rajasthan government has done.
In 2015, Rajasthan and Haryana governments amended their Panchayati Raj laws and laid down minimum educational qualifications required to contest panchayat elections.
The Minister said, Rajasthan had done really a good thing, which should be replicated all over.
