BJP leader and Union Minister Smriti Irani today said that union government has set up 733 One Stop Centres across the country so far and also sanctioned budget for 300 more such centers for women security.

These One Stop Centres are providing a range of integrated services under one roof including police facilitation, medical aid, legal aid, counselling and temporary shelter to women affected by violence or in distress.

Irani was addressing media at BJP headquarters in New Delhi today.

Highlighting Centre’s several initiatives for the welfare of women in the country in the last nine years, she said more than 34 women helplines are working in the country.

She said Anganwadi Services have been strengthened in the country and all Anganwadi centres have been connected through smart phone mobile.

She informed that 11 lakh smartphones have been distributed to Anganwadi workers so far. The Minister added that a system called Poshan Tracker has been set up and over nine crore beneficiaries are availing its benefits.

Ms Irani said, under the maternity benefit scheme- Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana around 3 crore 32 lakh women in the country, have received 13,650 crore rupees in their bank accounts through the DBT.

The Minister also said the Government has set up 1,023 fast-track courts in the country, out of which 418 courts are exclusively POCSO courts. She also informed that over 780 district-wise Anti-Human Trafficking Units are working in the country.

Ms Irani alleged that the previous Congress government did not operationalise even a single project for women’s safety but in the last nine years NDA government has upraised projects worth 12 thousand crores including the Nirbhaya Fund.
