Barring some minor clashes in north Kashmir’s Sadarkoot Bala area of Bandipora district the day passed off peacefully across Kashmir Valley on Sunday.
The normal life remained affected on Sunday across Kashmir on the 9th consecutive day.
The curfew remained in force in all the ten districts of Kashmir Valley. Police and para military personnel have been deployed in strength to maintain law and order. Reports said about 20 additional companies of CRPF were likely to reach shortly here to augment security grid for maintaining law and order.
Reports of shortage of essential items including medicines have been received from various curfew bound areas.
In view of the prevailing situation, the Government has extended the summer vacations in schools and colleges in Kashmir Zone up to July 24.
Barring BSNL post paid telephone and broadband internet services, all private mobile telephone services have been snapped.
The mobile internet and train services continued to remain suspended across Valley for the past nine days now.
After remaining temporarily suspended for two days on July 14 and 15, the Amarnath yatra resumed yesterday.
About 1900 pilgrims left Jammu Base Camp towards Amarnath Base Camps in Kashmir late afternoon today.
On the 16th day of Amarnath Yatra, over 1.72 lakh pilgrims had darshan of ice lingam at the Holy Cave till Sunday evening.
