The Centre has approved assistance of 1,269 crore rupees for drought affected Maharashtra. Out of the total amount, around 589 crore rupees will be supplementary assistance for damage to kharif crops and over 679 crore rupees for rabi crops.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh today chaired a meeting of the High Level Committee in New Delhi for Central Assistance to drought affected Maharashtra. The Committee examined the proposal based on the report of the Central Team which visited the state.

Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh, Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju and Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi also attended the meeting.
