Prime Minister Narendra Modi has instructed a two-member Central Team to rush to Arunachal Pradesh for an on-the-spot-assessment of damage in the wake of the recent landslide in Tawang District. The team comprises a Senior Advisor in the Niti Aayog and a Joint Secretary from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The High-level Central Team will make an assessment of the nature of relief and compensation package, after holding discussions with the State and District officials. In Tawang 16 people were killed in a massive landslide triggered by incessant rain last Friday. Prime Minister has already sanctioned ex-gratia relief of Rs. 2 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs. 50,000/- each to those seriously injured in the landslide.
