A six-member central team is in Assam to find out the extent of damages caused by flood this year. Assam Revenue Commissioner PK Tiwari said, the central team, split into two groups, visited different areas yesterday. Mr.Tiwari said, they are visiting several districts including Morigaon, Dhemaji, Goalpara, Nagaon and Dhubri among others. He said, the central team will continue its inspection for the next two days. He said, the team led by a Joint Secretary in the Union Home Ministry has undertaken the visit basically for verification purposes.

Mr Tiwari said, flood has caused damages worth 1,200 crore rupees of public property and State government has submitted a report in this regard. He said, 25 districts were affected in five waves of flood this year. Flood damaged crops, roads and other infrastructures. 64 persons died in flood related incidents. The team members will hold talks with Assam Chief Secretary on Sunday before wrapping up their visit.
