Special CBI Court today acquitted senior RJD leader and former Bihar Minister Mohammed Iliyas Hussain and four others in the infamous multi-crore bitumen scam but sentenced a transporter to three years of rigorous imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 4.
5 lakh against him in the scam.
After hearing arguments of both sides, Special CBI Judge Sarvjeet acquitted former state Road Construction Minister and senior RJD leader Mr Hussain and three officers –Mohammed Mujtaba Ahmed, Shobha Sinha, Ramadhar Thakur and a transporter Praveen Chharia due to lack of clinching evidences against them.
The court, however, sentenced an another transporter Krishna Kumar Kedia to three years of imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 4. 5 lakh against him after finding his involvement in the scam.
