The CBI today conducted searches at 13 places in Delhi and Noida at premises of two former Chief Commercial Managers of Northern Railway and seven private companies. The agency recovered 20 crore rupees in cash and a large number of incriminating documents.

It has registered cases against former Railway officials and the private companies for irregularities in supply of water bottle in premium trains including Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express. The former officials allegedly showed favour to private firms in supply of cheap packaged drinking water instead of Rail Neer.

They also did not take any action against the private parties despite repeated reminders by IRCTC for non-picking of allotted quota of Rail Neer.

The private caterers were supplying cheap brands of water bottle instead of Rail Neer to obtain undue profit.

The Railway Board had prescribed that IRCTC would provide Rail Neer at a rate of 10 rupees 50 paise per bottle to private caterers who would be paid around 15 rupees per bottle for supplying the same to the passengers.
