CBI has arrested two employees of cash department of Reserve Bank of India in Bengaluru in connection with alleged conversion of about two crore rupees of demonetised currency with valid notes.
The Investigating Agency said that Senior Special Assistant Sadananda Naika and Special Assistant A K Kavin of the RBI were arrested for unauthorised exchange of the old currency notes.
They have been booked under charges of criminal conspiracy and cheating besides provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act. It is alleged that the exchange of currency was done in violation of exchange limits imposed by the RBI.
