Campaigning for the Karnataka Assembly Election concluded today after reaching a feverish pitch. Political parties held multiple rallies and roadshows today in their last-ditch efforts to woo the voters.
Polling will be held on Saturday and counting will take place on 15th of this month. As the electioneering draws to an end, the Election Commission has imposed ban on public opinion programmes in the media.
Meanwhile, an FIR has been filed against Congress candidate Muniratna Naidu from R R Nagar seat for the violation of Model code of conduct following the seizure of voter ID cards from a flat in the constituency on Tuesday.
The state Chief Electoral Officer Sanjiv Kumar said, a decision on countermanding of election to the seat will be taken after submission of report by the Deputy Election Commissioner.

Continuing with his efforts to directly address the various wings of the party in poll bound Karnataka via the Namo app, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the SC, ST, OBC and Slum Morcha Karyakartas on Thursday.
Prime Minister said that BJP has always believed in equality and is committed to work for the development for all sections of the society. He said that taking inspiration from the life of Baba Sahib Ambedkar, his party is trying to fulfill Dr Ambedkar’s dream of a powerful and prosperous nation.
With the Karnataka assembly polls scheduled for Saturday, hectic campaigning by political parties concluded on Thursday. Leaders across political parties made last ditch efforts to woo voters holding rallies and several.
BJP President Amit shah held a road show at Badami in Karnataka which saw a huge turnout. In a press confrence at bengaluru, Shah launched a scathing attack congress president and CM Siddaramaiah and expressed confidence that BJP will win the state.
Besides the party chief, several Chief Ministers and Union Ministers also hit the campaign trail for the BJP. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, Chattisgarh CM Raman Singhan, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan spread out across the state to garner votes for the party.
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi did roadshows for Congress on the concluding day. In a press conference, he recounted the achievements of the Siddramaiah govt and asserted that it his party will retain power in Karnataka.
The third force in the Karnataka political battle, the JDS also left no stone unturned to woo voters. Party Leaders are confident that the party will fare well at the polls and the people will give a full majority to the JDS-BSP coalition.
Around 4 crore 96 lakh voters will exercise their franchise in karnataka. They will decide the fate of around 2654 candidates comprising 2435 men and only 219 women candidates. Polling will take place from 8AM to 6PM. A total of 56,696 polling stations have been arranged. All preparations are complete by the Election Commission. Special arrangements have been made for women and divyangs. EVMs alongwith VVPATs will be used.
