Budget session of Uttar Pradesh Assembly began today amid protest by the opposition. U.P. Governor Anandiben Patel addressed the customary joint session of both Houses- the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council on the opening day.
During her address, Governor Anandiben Patel highlighted the achievements of the government. Ms Patel said that UP is the growth engine of India’s development and there has been a lot of improvement in the field of economy and education.
Law and order situations have been improved in the state. Ms Patel added that the government has promoted solar energy. Currently, 9 airports are functioning in the state and 11 crore people have benefited from Arogya Mela organized in the state.
The Governor highlighted that the Government is providing free food to the poor families and money is being directly transferred to the accounts of the beneficiaries of PM Samman Nidhi Yojana. The State Government has honoured all military families. Samajwadi Party MLAs-led by leader of opposition in Vidhan Sabha Akhilesh Yadav created a ruckus in the assembly during Governor’s address. After the Governor’s address, the Speaker adjourned the house for the day. The proceedings will resume tomorrow by 11 am. Earlier, ahead of the start of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly session, SP MLAs sat on a dharna in assembly premises raising various issues.
Notices of death will be taken in the House on February 21 and the Legislature will adjourn after the condolence motion. Finance Minister Suresh Khanna will present the second Budget of the Yogi Government 2.0 on 22nd February. Budget session will continue till 10th March.
