The Border Security Force(BSF) of India and the Border Guard of Bangladesh have emphasized expediting developmental and infrastructure activities to boost trade and bilateral relations between the two nations. The decision was taken during the Director General level 53rd Border Coordination Conference 2023 held in New Delhi from 11th to 14th of this month. The Indian delegation was led by Director General of Border Security Force Dr. Sujoy Lal Thaosen, while Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh Major General AKM Nazmul Hasan led the Bangladesh delegation.

During the four days conference, five developmental projects were agreed upon. Both sides have agreed upon curbing border crimes through coordinated patrols in vulnerable areas and real-time sharing of information. To reduce the violent incidents in the border areas, both sides agreed to enhance joint patrolling and vigilance, especially during the late hours of the night to early morning, and intensify public awareness programs.

They appreciated the efforts taken for strengthening cooperation through various agreed events undertaken as Confidence Building Measures under the Comprehensive Border Management Plans. Director General of BSF Dr. Sujoy Lal Thaosen appreciated the cooperation of the Border Guard of Bangladesh which paved the way for expediting the construction of a Single Row Fence and essential elements along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
