Britain will host fresh round of peace talks on Syrian crisis in London. US Secretary of State, John Kerry, will join French and German foreign ministers for talks hosted by UK Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson, today.
The talks in London follow an emergency debate in the House of Commons on the situation in Syria.
John Kerry met Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, along with representatives from Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Turkey in Switzerland yesterday and failed to reach an agreement to end the ongoing civil war in Syria.
Kerry said the new, leaner contact group had come up with some plausible ideas that would be fleshed out in the coming days and might lead to a new, stronger ceasefire.
The United Nations has warned that eastern Aleppo, where an estimated 275,000 people still live, could face total destruction within two months. Last week, Russia vetoed a UN Security Council resolution drafted by France calling for an end to the bombing in the city.
