The swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh took place at Raj Niwas in Leh today, February 19.

The Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, Justice N Kotiswar Singh administered the oath of office to Brig. Dr. B.D. Mishra amidst selected dignitaries of civil society, defence, officials of UT Ladakh and elected leaders of Leh and Kargil Hill Councils headed by respective Chief Executive Councilors.

Brigadier Dr. B.D. Mishra(Retd.) is the second LG for UT Ladakh after the first LG Radha Krishna Mathur who served Ladakh for three years and four months ie, from the 31st of October 2019 to the 11th of February 2023. On his arrival, Ladakh Police accorded a guard of honour to Brigadier Dr. Mishra(Retd.) at Raj Niwas Leh. He was welcomed at Leh with Ladakhi tradition and culture.

Before appointment as the new LG for UT Ladakh, Brig. Dr. B.D. Mishra served as Governor of Arunachal Pradesh.
Brigadier Dr. B.D. Mishra(retd.) served in all three major wars forced on India. Sino-India War in 1962, Indo-Pak War in 1965 and Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. Besides Brig. Dr. BD Mishra (Retd.) volunteered to join the Kargil War against Pakistan in 1999.
