In Brazil, 61 people have been killed in a plane crash in Sao Paulo. The ill-fated plane was flying from Cascavel in Paraná to Sao Paulo city when it came down in the town of Vinhedo. The twin-engine turboprop was carrying 57 passengers and four crew. None of them has survived.

The plane crashed in a residential area damaging one house. There is no report of any resident being hurt. Flight recorders had been retrieved. Brazil’s President, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has expressed condolences to the families and friends of the victims. Sao Paulo’s state Governor, Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas has declared three days of mourning.
