ONKAR SINGH / NEW DELHI

RAVI SHANKAR PARSADSenior BJP leader and Union Communications and IT Minister Ravi Shakar Prasad Monday slammed Congress party for remarks on the unveiling of Statue of Unity in Gujarat.

Talking to media here, the Minister said Congress leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi have innumerable prizes and awards to their names. He said it should not be a matter of concern to Congress if a statue is built for Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Mr Prasad also hit out at senior Congress leader P Chidambaram for mocking Ram Temple and the statue of Sardar Patel on Twitter and called the tweet very provocative. He said Congress President Rahul is portraying himself as a devotee of Shiva but his party leaders are mocking temples.

Mr Chidambaram had earlier said in a tweet that nothing has been achieved by the NDA government at the end of five years and the new promise is for grand temple and giant statues.
