Bharatiya Janata Party, BJP today hits out at Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi for the siding with supporters of Rohith Vemula, the Dalit student of Hyderabad Central University, Who committed suicide following alleged discrimination in the campus.
BJP accused Rahul of playing politics over Rohith Vemula’s suicide in Hyderabad Central University. Briefing media in Delhi, party spokesperson Sambit Patra accused Mr Gandhi of being selective on Dalit issues and asked to stop playing politics over dead bodies.
Mr Patra also asked why Mr Gandhi took no notice when nine Dalit students killed themselves in the past ten years in the same university. He questioned the need for the Congress leader to act as a judge when a judicial process is on. He said it is a classic case of trying to buy political brownie points.
The Congress Vice President on Saturday rejoined the day-long mass hunger strike by students seeking justice to Research Scholar Rohith Vemula who committed suicide in the Hyderabad Central university on 17th of this month.
Rahul also used the occasion to attack the Central Government, saying a particular ideology is being imposed from the top by crushing the spirit of youngsters.
Meanwhile, the ABVP held demonstrations at several places alleging that the Congress party is politicizing Rohith‘s Suicide.
The student wing of BJP has also issued a bandh call for all educational institutes in Telangana.
