A delegation of BJP MPs and MLAs from Uttarakhand met President Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhawan Monday evening and demanded dismissal of Congress government in the State. The delegation was led by BJP General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya.
Former Chief Ministers and Party MPs Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Bhagat Singh Koshiyari were also the part of delegation.
Briefing media after the meeting, Mr Vijayvargiya said that Harish Rawat led Congress government has been reduced to minority and it has no moral right to continue in the office. He said,in 70 member Uttarakhand Assembly, 36 MLAs including Congress rebels are against the Rawat government. He said, despite their demand for a division of votes, the appropriation bill was passed by a voice vote which is unconstitutional.
Meanwhile a Congress delegation also reached Rashtrapati Bhawan to meet the President in the backdrop of political crisis in the State. Senior party leaders A K Antony, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Kapil Sibal were the part of the delegation.Briefing reporters after the meeting, Mr Azad said, the delegation apprised the President on how BJP with help from Centre has been trying to dismantle opposition’s government in states particularly Congress ruled State governments.
He said, they have requested Mr Pranab Mukherjee that Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat should be allowed to prove majority as scheduled on 28th of this month.
