BJP and Congress have welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision of granting permanent commission to women in the army.
Talking to MEDIA, Party Spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi termed it a historic decision saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the permanent commission for women in the army in his Independence speech in 2018. She hit out at Congress alleging that the previous UPA regime had opposed the move in the court during its tenure.
Congress said that the verdict has opened new vistas and new doors to India’s daughters. However, senior party leader Rahul Gandhi alleged that BJP Government disrespected women by arguing in court that they did not deserve command posts as they were inferior to men.
