The BJP Central Election Committee met in New Delhi yesterday evening to discuss the names of the party candidates for Gujarat assembly elections. Talking to reporters after the meeting, Union Minister JP Nadda said, the discussion on candidates for most of Gujarat assembly seats is complete and the list will be released at an appropriate time. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President Amit Shah, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and other senior leaders were present at the meeting.
The nomination process for the first phase of assembly polls is presently on and it will end on 21st of this month. Nominations for second phase will be from 20th to 27th November. The 182 member Gujarat Assembly will go to polls in two-phases on 9th and 14th of next month.
The BJP CEC meeting also finalized the names of candidates for election to Karnataka Legislative Council seats. The party decided to field Ayanur Manjunath from South-West Graduates Constituency while Ganesh Karnik will contest from South-West Teachers Constituency.
Niranjan Murthy will fight from South Teachers Constituency, KB Shrinivas from North-East Graduates Constituency, Dr. Haalanur Lepakshi from South-East Teachers Constituency and A. Devegowda has beein fielded from Bangalore Graduates Constituency.
