BJP has attacked Congress over the Augusta Westland deal. Talking to media after BJP Parliamentary Board Meeting, Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said, the culpability of Congress misrule is slowly surfacing. He said, even now the opposition party is making attempts to stall the developmental works of the NDA government.

Meanwhile, Congress today said it has nothing to hide in the Augusta Westland deal and accused BJP of making irresponsible allegations against it. Talking to media outside Parliament, senior party leader and former Defence Minister A K Antony said it was the UPA government which had ordered CBI probe and cancelled the deal following the bribe charges. He said the government should speed up the CBI probe in the case to find out the truth.

Another party leader, Anand Sharma alleged that BJP is levelling such charges against Congress just to divert the attention from the real issues. He said, if the ruling party has anything to substantiate the allegations it should bring a motion in Parliament instead of giving notices for discussion.

The Augusta Westland deal is related to purchase of 12 helicopters for VVIPs from Italian manufacturer, Finmeccanica in 2010 during UPA rule. Reports later said that the Italian manufacturer had paid bribe to ensure the deal.
