PATNA/NEWDELHI (AMN) More than about 50 percent voters cast their vote in the fifth phase of polls in Bihar. 35 constituencies spread over eight districts went to poll on Tuesday. State Chief Electoral officer Sudhir Kumar Rakesh said that maximum of 52 per cent polling was recorded in Patna and Jehanabad districts. 50 percent voter turnout was recorded in Sheikhpura, Nalanda and Bhojpur districts. 49 percent in Gaya, 48 percent in Nawada and 47 percent voting was recorded in Arwal districts of the state.
Meanwhile a former minister of state government and father in law of congress nominee from Hisua constituency has been arrested with his nine associates for allegedly disrupting polling and damaging Electronic Voting Machines at his native village in Nawada district.
In Naxal affected 9 segments of these three districts where polling was held at 3 PM 45 to 54 percent voters have exercised their franchise while in Naxal hit Wazirganj and Belaganj constituencies 49 percent polling has been recorded in Gaya district where voting was concluded till 4 PM. In most of the constituencies increase in polling percentage in the comparison of last assembly and Lok Sabha elections has been recorded in Magadh region.
