Bihar Government has sounded an alert in view of the formation of a deep and growing lake in Kali Gandaki river in Nepal caused by a massive landslide in the western part of the Himalayan country. State Water Resource Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary said all 36 gates of Balmiki Nagar barrage have been opened to meet any eventuality.

He said, five districts including West and East Champaran have been put on alert and officials there are asked to take precautionary measures in case a heavy amount of water flows into Gandak from Nepal side after the bursting of the artificial lake.
