Election Commission has asked all political parties not to publish advertisements in newspapers of Bihar tomorrow without prior certification. The direction came following publication of advertisements by BJP in today’s newspapers related to cow and complaint by JD(U) and Congress in this regard. The Commission has asked the parties to take a pre-certification of political advertisements from its Media Certification and Monitoring Committee(MCMC).
The poll panel observed that despite its earlier order to news papers and political parties, some advertisements have appeared in today’s newspapers which are offending in nature. In its directive to Bihar Chief Electoral Officer, the Commission asked him to issue direction to all news papers in the state not to publish any advertisement in the news papers tomorrow which has not been pre-certified.
The poll body has further directed that MCMC at State and district level be immediately put in place and activated in order to examine and pre-certify all such advertisements received from the political parties and candidates. The commission said the action has been taken so that no untoward incident takes place because of any inflammatory or hate advertisements. Today’s advertisement targeted JD(U) leader and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar asking him why he has been mum on repeated insults to cow made by partners of his grand alliance.
