Government has approved an amount of Rs 200 crore as special assistance to Bihar for completion of the ongoing projects under Special Plan Bihar.
Some major projects which are being funded under the Special Plan include development of state highways, rail-cum- road bridge, and strengthening of sub-transmission system.
Niti Ayog said in a release that government is committed to assist the states to meet the spill-over liabilities of their area specific schemes and projects for which budget provision has not been made after the implementation of Fourteenth Finance Commission recommendations.
An amount of 367.93 crore rupees has also been approved to be released as special assistance to Odisha. The Special Plan for the Koraput, Bolangir and Kalahandi districts has been in operation since 2002-03.
The schemes taken up under this are largely for promotion of education among ST/SC girls and boys including development of playgrounds and sports activities in hostels and schools, improvement of roads and strengthening of electric supply systems.
