Bihar Governor Ram Nath Kovind has resigned from his post after he has been nominated as the ruling NDA’s presidential candidate.A communique issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan said today that President Pranab Mukherjee has accepted the resignation of Mr Kovind.
The President has appointed Governor of West Bengal Keshari Nath Tripathi to discharge the functions of the Governor of Bihar, in addition to his own duties, until regular arrangements for the office of the Governor of Bihar is made.
The presidential election, if required, will be held on July 17. Mr Mukherjee completes his five-year term on July 24.
