Iran has finally accepted Pakistan’s brokered two-week ceasefire proposal, which was approved by the Islamic Republic’s supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei.

This comes after US President Donald Trump said he has agreed to suspend the bombing of Iran for two weeks while accepting a 14-day truce proposal from mediators in the Iran war.

“Based on conversations with Prime Minister Shehbaz ‌Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, of Pakistan, and wherein they requested that I hold ‌off the destructive force being sent tonight to Iran, and subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and ‌SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks,” ‌Mr. Trump wrote on social media.

The announcement came after Pakistan made a last-minute proposal to avert massive U.S. attacks on Iran, with Mr. Trump warning a “whole civilization will die tonight” unless a deal was agreed.
