VENKAIAH NAIDUUnion Minister for Urban Development and Information Broadcasting M. Venkaiah Naidu has alleged that the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh was done illogically without giving proper thought into it by the then UPA government.

Speaking at a public meeting in Tirupathi today, he said, the Congress Party has done gross injustice to the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh. Mr Naidu said, the NDA government at the Centre now has come forward to fill the revenue deficit of the state. He reiterated that the Special Category Status for the state which is being demanded by everyone does not guarantee everything.

However, to complement it, he said, the Centre is directing foreign investments under various projects to the state. He said, the NDA government is catering to the maximum needs of the State as well as setting up several institutions which are not even incorporated in the AP Reorganisation Act when it was framed by the UPA.

Speaking on the Polavaram Project, Mr. Naidu said, the Centre will bear the entire cost of the project. He said, the Congress today is questioning the Centre why the Polavaram Project is not completed yet while it had wrapped it up for decades when it was in power. He said, the Centre is providing funds to Polavaram while the State will execute the works.
