Lok Janshakti Party chief and Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan has said the Bharat Bandh against the amendments to the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act was a limited show of resentment by a few fringe social organisations at the behest of some political parties.
Talking to MEDIA here, Mr Paswan said the Narendra Modi government has done nothing new, except piloting the unanimous reinstatement of 29-year-old provisions of the Act, which were diluted by the Supreme Court order in March this year.
Questioning the silence of Congress President Rahul Gandhi and BSP Chief Mayawati on Bharat Bandh, Mr Paswan said it is indicative of their tacit support to the Bandh in an attempt to keep both sides happy.
He said the LJP has been championing the cause of every section of society and is ready to fight for 15 percent reservation for the poor among the upper castes.
