Bechari is PM mother and wife not me, says Misa Bharti

PATNA: RJD Parivar has reacted sharply over the PM Narendra Modi remarks on Misa Bharti, the daughter of Lalu Prasad. They termed the remark as insulting to women and backward caste and put a bigger question on prime minister’s respect for women.
At an election meeting at Sona village in Patna district, PM Narendra Modi had said that Lalu Prasad tried “to set” his ‘bechari beti (helpless daughter)’ during the last Lok Sabha election, and now trying set his other children.
RJD chief’s daughter Misa Bharti hit back at the PM raising the issue of “desertion of wife” by Modi and not bringing mother to Delhi.
“Ek beti ‘ghar ki Lakshmi’ hoti hai. Wo aur baat hai ki kuch log is Lakshmi ko vivah kar bewajah chhor dete hai. Ek beti ghar ki izzat hoti hai, par kuch log unke pichhe jasusi karne aur karwane lagte hai (A daughter is the Lakshmi of home. But some people desert this Lakshmi without any reason after marrying her. A daughter happens to be the dignity of her home. But some people indulge in spying against her),”
RJD chief Lalu Yadav today also took offence at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s use of ‘Bechari Beti’ adjective for the daughter Misa Bharti. He lashed out at Narendra Modi and said that he had no business calling Misa ‘Bechari’ and accused him of using indecent language.
Lalu accused PM Modi of being ‘hopeless’ in Bihar. “Pad ki garima ka dhyan rakho (Modiji, stop insulting the country’s women power and maintain decorum associated with the PM’s post),” the RJD chief later tweeted.
“Modiji has insulted women and ‘naari shakti’ by using highly-indecent and offensive word like ‘set karna’ (to set) for the daughter or sister of someone.”
Misa wrote in a post on Facebook on Tuesday, in a oblique reference to Modi not keeping his wife Jashodaben with him since long. Misa’s post has gone viral on social media.
Using strong words against Modi, Misa in her post adds, “If a woman is ‘bechari (helpless)’ today, it is mainly because people like you don’t know how to respect a woman. Even after becoming Prime Minister of the country, people call a woman ‘bechari’ from a public platform.” “On the one hand, you give the slogan of ‘Beti Padhao Beti Bachao’ and at the same time, you openly use indecent language for a woman,” Misa said.
“You openly said that Laluji tried ‘to set’ his ‘bechari’ daughter in the last election. Does a father try ‘to set’ his daughter? What type of an indecent language is this? That too, for a woman. Have you forgotten all ‘sanskar’ and ‘maryada’ after becoming the PM?” Misa asked Modi.
Misa also said in her post that she was daughter of 1974 movement. “I do not require help of anyone for being ‘set’ (at any post). I am already set in the hearts of people,” she said.
“Modiji, mahila-shakti ko apmanit karna band karo.Pad ki garima ka dhyan rakho (Modiji, stop insulting the country’s women and maintain the decorum associated with the Prime Minister’s post),” Lalu said.
