Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore today said that the Banks will disburse loans worth about Rs 1.5 lakh crore to small business units under the Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Bank scheme during the current financial year.
Mr Rathore has been made in-Charge of Goa State for the implementation of this scheme. Talking to the media Persons in Panaji he said that the main object of the Government is to make families financially strong in order to make the nation strong. Under the Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Scheme the banks have already disbursed Rs 18 thousand crore for financial stability of the small traders, he said.
Col. Rathore further informed that the government has decided to organize mega credit camps across the country between September 25 to October 2 this year for Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY) loans so that maximum numbers of borrowers could get credit as per their requirements under the three categories of loans.
The PMMY provide loans between Rs. 50 thousand to Rs 10 lakh to small entrepreneurs with a rate of 1% percent interest per month. The scheme was launched by the Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi in April this year. This MUDRA Bank scheme would benefit small manufacturing units, Shopkeepers, vegetable sellers, hair saloon, and hawkers.
Reacting on the ongoing FTII students strike Mr Rathode said that the government wants to resolve the impasse. Early in morning the Minister met Goa Chief Minster Laxmikant Parsekr and took stock of preparation of the upcoming International Film Festival Of India 2015 scheduled to be held in Goa in November .
