The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) of Bangladesh has arrested three more persons in connection with the vandalism and attack on the temples and houses of the minority Hindu community in the Shiali villages under Rupsha upazila of Khulna district on 7 August.

Briefing media about the arrests on Friday, the RAB said that miscreants from the nearby villages attacked the Hindu community and vandalised their homes, shops and temples. A case was lodged at the Rupsha police station after which RAB launched an investigation to arrest the culprits.

The arrests have been made based on the examination of the videos of the incident. The arrested persons have provided important information about the other persons involved in the crime. The operation to arrest other fugitives involved in the incident is continuing.

Earlier, police had arrested 10 people in the same case after raiding houses of the accused. According to one version, the incident started with a minor altercation between two groups of people on the issue of singing Kirtan at the time of Namaz.

Several Hindu organisations carried out human chain protest, hunger strike and demonstrations in Khulna city demanding quick action and arrest of main culprits in the case.
