A peace march consisting of 4 women starting from Gandhi Bhawan Kolkata culminated at Gandhi Ashram Trust, Noakhali. A closing ceremony was organised by the Gandhi Ashram Trust on Thursday to honour the people taking part in the march. Hundreds of students from Noakhali Science and Technology University, other colleges and schools, members of civil society, community people and politicians were present on the occasion. Several eminent people and Gandhian scholars including Tandra Barua, Head of Gandhi Global Family, Bangladesh chapter, Principal of Jayag College, Noakhali, Prof. Dibya Duti Sarkar, Dean, Social Science Faculty of the university took part in the programme where delegates were honoured with a crest and scarf.
The four-member women group of peace march participants led by Arjumand Zayedi, UN Peace Messenger, United Nations Global Compact – network, India arrived in Noakhali on Wednesday, 15th March.
Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre, High Commission of India honoured the members of the peace march at Dhaka on 14th March by organising a cultural program at Chyanaut Bhaban, where Chairman of Gandhi Ashram Trust Major General Jiban Kanai Das (Retd.) and representative from the High Commission of India were present.
