The health condition of former Bangladesh PM and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia remains “complicated”, with doctors treating her with “the highest professionalism and caution”, Dhaka Evercare Hospital medical board said on Thursday.

Prof Dr Shahabuddin Talukdar, speaking for the board, confirmed that Khaleda’s kidney function has stopped and she now requires regular dialysis. He urged people “not to spread rumours”, adding that recent tests show “several complications”.

Khaleda is suffering from increased shortness of breath, reduced blood oxygen, and elevated carbon dioxide levels. She is currently being managed with high-flow nasal cannula and BiPAP support. With no improvement, doctors placed her on elective ventilator support “to allow rest for her lungs and other organs”.

She was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis on November 27, which remains under intensive treatment. Due to severe infection, she is on advanced antibiotic and antifungal therapy. She is also receiving blood and blood-component transfusions because of gastrointestinal bleeding and disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC).
