Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh General Aziz Ahmed is on a visit to Myanmar where he will discuss Rohingya issue with top officials there

According to a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) of the armed forces of Bangladesh, General Aziz will hold a meeting with the deputy chief of Myanmar armed forces and its army chief Vice Senior General Soe Win over the course of his visit.

The ISPR release said that General Aziz will discuss ways to enhance mutual cooperation and strengthening the friendly relations between the armed forces of the two countries. He will also discuss the issue of the repatriation of Rohingya refugees from Bangladesh to Myanmar.

Prior to going on the visit to Myanmar General Aziz had a meeting with the foreign minister of Bangladesh Dr AK Abdul Momen on Wednesday.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Dr Momen had said that the visit of the Army chief Myanmar will open another line of negotiation between the two countries over Rohingya repatriation. Army Chief will return back to Bangladesh on 11th December.
