DHAKA: Bangladesh is making progress in fighting hunger, a study by UK-based ActionAid International says. The country ranks sixth among 28 most vulnerable countries to reduce hunger, up from 13th position. It is top of the list among South Asian countries.

“Bangladesh’s rank reflects the progress it has made in reducing hunger from 36 percent to 26 percent since 1990,” the study says. Criteria for the ranking included hunger trends, the legal framework, smallholder agriculture, social safety and gender equality.

Bangladesh’s neighbors Nepal placed 14th, India 21st and Pakistan 25th.UCAN
