BJP Karnataka state President B S Yediyurappa was sworn in as Chief Minister of Karnataka today at Rajbhavan. He will face the floor test on Monday.
After the collapse of the coalition government last Tuesday after the floor test, Yediyurappa met the Governor today morning to stake claim to form the Government.
Former Union Minister S M Krishna, BJP Karnataka in-charge Muralidhar Rao, MPs Pratap Simha, Shobha Karandlaje and party MLAs graced the occasion.
Yediyurappa has the record of taking the oath of office as Chief Minister for the fourth time, though he had the opportunity to serve as Chief Minister from 2008 to 2011. On other occasions, he had to vacate the seat after failing to prove majority.
BJP has 105 members in the Assembly House of 222 members, with Speaker disqualifying three members yesterday. The cases of another 14 Congress and JD(S) MLAs who resigned are yet to be decided by the Speaker.
