Different Political leaders, scholars, religious leaders across the country have appealed to the masses to maintain peace and harmony in wake of the Supreme Court verdict on the Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid case.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the judgment “will not be a victory or defeat” for anyone.
In a series of tweets, the prime minister appealed to the people that the priority should be to strengthen India’s tradition of maintaining peace and harmony after the verdict is pronounced on Saturday.
“The Supreme Court verdict on Ayodhya would not be a matter of victory or loss. My appeal to countrymen is that it should be our priority that the verdict should strengthen India’s great tradition of peace, unity and amity,” he said.
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has appealed people to maintain peace and calm as the Supreme Court is all set to deliver its verdict on the Ayodhya Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid land title dispute.
In a tweet, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said people should abide by the ideals and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi. “This is the land of Mahatma Gandhi. It is our duty to abide by the principles of peace and non-violence,” she said ahead of the Ayodhya verdict.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that it is the responsibility of every person to ensure that no untoward incident takes place anywhere. It is the duty of people to remain calm.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami said the government is ensuring law and order in the state and people are maintaining communal harmony and brotherhood. The state has been brought a thick security blanket with vital installations including airports, railway stations and other places.
Restrictions under section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code came into force in the newly-created Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir around midnight last night after the DGP chaired a high-level meeting to review the security situation the officials said.

Security has been beefed up in Madhya Pradesh ahead of the Supreme Court. The officials said in Bhopal as many as 32 additional companies of the police are being deployed across the state. Prohibitory orders were enforced across the state to ensure peace.
In Gujarat, police personnel were deployed in sensitive areas and patrolling has been intensified on streets. Police Commissioner Ashish Bhatia said in Ahmedabad that senior police officers were patrolling in sensitive areas.
