The temple city is gearing up to present a new look with the construction of Ram Janambhoomi Mandir and the redevelopment of Ayodhya Junction (railway station).

After the merger of the erstwhile Faizabad with the Temple city, the entire township is now called Ayodhya. The city now has two railway stations – Ayodhya Cantt (in formerly Faizabad) and Ayodhya Junction. The Ayodhya is now taken up for redevelopment. The ongoing work of the new construction of the station is slated to be completed by March 2022 except two foot over bridge with connecting deck slab which is planned to be completed by December 2022. Primary objective of redevelopment is to provide world class amenities for 15,000 daily passengers with seamless travel comfort by leveraging Railway land and space for commercial development.

The extirior of the station building will be furnished with pink bansipaharpur stone, the same used in the construction of Ram Janambhoomi Mandir. The new building will have dome-shaped structures and Mandir pinnacle akin to that structure of new Ram Janambhoomi Mandir

The estimated cost of the first phase of the project is Rs 126 crore. About 70 per cent of the work is completed, while the financial progress is 60 per cent. Target is to acquire 14640 sq meter of nazrul land for additional access Road from Mohabra side.

The two floor building will have 1400 sq meter waiting space, two foot over bridge, 14 retiring rooms, 44 dormitories for males and 32 for females, food plazas and shops and parking facility for vehicles.

Speaking on the occasion the MP from Faizabad Lallu Singh said that in future plans will be initiated to facilitate seamless visit of one lakh pilgrims per day. Ayodhya well connected by 4-lane road with Varanasi and Lucknow. Plans are afoot to set up an international airport in Ayodhya

The construction work at Ram Janambhoomi Temple is in progress. The Garbha Griha will be constructed by December 23, 2022 and the makeshift temple of Ram Lal will be shifted to new Garbha Griha.
