Australia beat India by eight wickets in the first Day and night Test of the 4-match series at Adelaide. Chasing 90 runs for a win, Australia scored 93 runs for 2 wickets.
Earlier, India were bowled out for 36 in their second innings after the last batsman Mohammed Shami was retired hurt. Josh Hazlewood took five wickets and Pat Cummins bagged four for the hosts.
With this disastrous performance India has set a poor record of posting its lowest-ever Test total so far and this the lowest test score by any team in 65 years.
Indian team’s debacle began soon after it resumed their play from overnight score of 9 for one on day 3 in the second innings.
Earlier, India bowled out Australia for 191 for a first-innings lead of 53 runs.
