The special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court in Mumbai today convicted LeT operative and 26/11 key plotter Sayed Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal and 11 others in the 2006 Aurangabad arms haul case.

They were found guilty under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and for waging war against the nation besides other sections under IPC. The court acquitted eight others in the case, while trial of two accused have been separated. However, the court lifted MCOCA charges over all the 22 accused in the case as the charges were not proved in the court.

The special court will pronounce the sentence in this case tomorrow. The court had framed charges against the accused in August 2013. During the trial, the prosecution examined 100 witnesses while defence lawyers examined 16.

In May 2006, a Maharashtra ATS team had arrested three terror suspects from a highway near Aurangabad. RDX, AK-47 rifles and large number of bullets were seized from their possession.
