At least 25 people are reported dead in a collision that took place early on Monday morning between a speedboat and a sand laden bulkhead on river Padma in Madahripur’s Shibchar upazila in Bangladesh. Local police officials told the media that 25 bodies have been recovered so far. Divers from the local fire station and river police have joined the rescue operations. Five people were rescued. Earlier, on April 5, at least 26 people were killed in an accident near Narayanganj where a passenger ferry collided with a cargo vessel on Shitalakhya river.
