The Assam Legislative Assembly has decided to send an all party delegation to Delhi to discuss the Naga Peace accord with the Centre. The decision was taken today at the assembly while discussing a resolution moved by the Parliamentary Affairs minister. The resolution stressed that the pact should not harm the interest of the state.
Apart from the Congress, Asom Gana Parishad and Bodoland People’s Front have supported the resolution while the BJP opposed it. The resolution demanded disclosure of details in the pact and also stated that geographical interest of Assam should not be disturbed. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi reiterated that the Centre should make the framework of the pact public while the BJP appealed Congress not to politicize the issue.
