The Assam government has sought 75 additional companies of security forces to be deployed in the state. Assam Home Commissioner L S Changsan said that additional security forces have been sought to continue counter-insurgency operation.
Ms. Changsan said that these companies were deployed in the state during the Assembly elections, but withdrew after the polls. ssecurity has been intensified across Assam following reports that terrorists may create subversive activities.
