FIR has been lodged against Jamiat Ulema e Hind President Maulana Syed Arshad Madani for his objectionable comment on National Register of Citizens, NRC update process in Assam. Mr Madani recently allegedly made a comment in New Delhi that there would be retaliation in Assam by a particular community if their names would not be included in the NRC.
He alleged that a conspiracy is being made in Assam to create Myanmar like situation.It may be recalled that NRC is being updated in Assam under the supervision of Supreme Court to find out illegal citizens. Assam Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal said that the state government is committed to updating an error-free NRC.
He said that no efforts to hamper the process would be tolerated. Several organizations including BJP, Asom Gana Parishad condemned the comment of Madani. Our Correspondent reports that one Biswajit Nath has lodged FIR against Madani and another person in Guwahati.
