Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday strongly rejected the allegations made by Pawan Khera, calling them “malicious, fabricated and politically motivated.”

Responding to the accusations raised by the Indian National Congress during a press conference, Sarma said the statements reflected “frustration and panic” within the opposition party as Assam moves towards what he described as a historic electoral mandate.

The Chief Minister said he and his wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, would file both criminal and civil defamation cases against Khera within the next 48 hours over the remarks.

Sarma asserted that he had full faith in the judiciary and said the truth would be established in a court of law. He added that Khera would be held accountable for what he termed “reckless and defamatory statements.”
